Villa Karisse – International Cultural Integration Event
International Integration Event at VK
The official start of summer falls on the longest day of the year and VK was dressed up for a special evening with over 100 guests from Germany and France to celebrate this occasion and build better cultural relations between the Councils and Mayors of Izabelin and the sister towns of Borken in Germany and Meru in France.
Following a dynamic concert by various artists at the Council’s Concert Hall, the guests were taken to the galleries and gardens at Villa Karisse for an outdoor barbecue where the dozens of tables were overflowing with plentiful Polish culinary delights. The night was highlighted by the screening, on the giant wall in the main salon of The Residence building, of the very exciting World Cup Football match between Germany and Ghana. There was much drama in the audience as 4 goals were scored in quick succession and emotions ran high as the scores see-sawed within only a few minutes.
During the half-time break, the Mayor of Izabelin Witold Malarowski, introduced in 3 languages the Mayors of the sister towns of Borken and Meru and all the other VIP guests. Much gratitude was expressed to the owners and managers of Villa Karisse for all the preparations and for allowing this lovely venue to be used for the betterment of international understanding and cultural relations.
Even the sudden cold snap and light rain did not dampen the exuberant spirits of the guests and the last visitors did not depart till after midnight. Reciprocal invitations were issued by the sister towns for cultural visits later this year.
